The new movie Invictus tells the story of how Nelson Mandela and South Africa’s rugby team (the Springboks) helped heal the wounds caused by decades of racial apartheid. South Africa united behind the Springboks largely because of the servant leadership provided by newly elected president Nelson Mandela and team captain Francois Pienaar. As Christians we are followers of the greatest servant leader, Jesus Christ. LinC explores what it means to be a servant leader and follow Christ’s example. The movie The Blind Side (based on a book of the same name) tells the true story of football player Michael Oher and the Tuohys, the adoptive family who helped lift Oher out of poverty and provided him a first-rate education. The Tuohys were moved with compassion when they became aware of Oher's poor living conditions and acted on this compassion by making Oher part of their family.
