This week we celebrated the start of a new calendar year and, depending on how you count the years, a new decade. LinC looks back on all that has happened since the year 2000 and looks forward to what the next decade may bring. We’ll reflect on ways God has been at work in our lives in the past and ways we can participate in God’s redemptive work in the future. Key Scriptures: Ruth 1:1-18; Jeremiah 32:1-15; Luke 13:18-21; Revelation 21:1-7. The new movie Invictus tells the story of how Nelson Mandela and South Africa’s rugby team (the Springboks) helped heal the wounds caused by decades of racial apartheid. South Africa united behind the Springboks largely because of the servant leadership provided by newly elected president Nelson Mandela and team captain Francois Pienaar. As Christians, we are followers of the greatest servant leader, Jesus Christ. Next week LinC explores what it means to be a servant leader and how we can follow Christ’s example.
