Teachers Robin Hillis and Brad McCauley and teenager Erin Delaney return to Brookstone High School from their Christmas break under a shadow. Troubled by the evidence of student dishonesty they have come across, they are only partly determined to act on their suspicions. What holds them back? Their realization that they too are guilty of cheating in one form or another--in their relationships, their own personal hypocrisy, and their fear of facing the truth of who they really are. As the spring semester unfolds, however, they find it impossible to avoid or ignore the mounting evidence of cheating, and events begin to pull them into a widening scandal whose extent and depth they can cannot begin to imagine.
