Bob Glickley writes with "no pretense whatsoever, humble, direct, and most importantly, he teaches the whole counsel of God, not just the warm and fuzzy messages." (In this passage from the book, Glickley is talking about his spiritual mentor, whose biblically sound influence is clear in this eloquently casual work.) God's desire is that we follow his course for our life, yet how we get there is often through many twists and turns. My hope and prayer is that by looking through the hour glass of my life and perspective on the Bible, you will either begin a walk with the Lord for perhaps the first time or that you will realize the richness of a "Closer Walk with Thee." Glickley covers many of the characteristics and goals of the successful Christian life: True Happiness-"God longs for a personal relationship where He can shape our character, inspire us to serve others more than ourselves, and bestow his blessings upon us." Being a Good Servant-" Jesus] showed us the path to being humble and compassionate to our fellow man." Suffering-"Sometimes it's God's way of developing our faith and trust in him." Grace-"We are saved by grace through faith, so any pridefulness should go out the window." Prayer-"When praying, the first thing to do is say, 'Thanks '" Faith-"How do we acquire more faith? By keeping our focus on the Lord, and looking for Jesus' helping hand when we're falling." Opening the Door and Letting God In offers practical guidance for developing a deeper relationship with God, including daily reading of His word. At the heart of the teaching here is a profound concept that sounds enormously simple: "Offer Him your day, and ask Him to direct your path."
