The Prodigal Son is today perhaps the most famous parable in the Bible. In Jesus' day, the story was famous as well. A familiar jewish parable told the story of a younger man who leaves the family and squanders his inheritance in a far off land. When the son returns home. He is no welcome. The message was clear - If you leave the family, you're on your own. But when Jesus told the story, he changed the ending, and surprised his audience.
Watch this parable - ask yourself, "Where would I be if God weren't willing to welcome me home?"
Sharable Parables are short stories designed to reveal deeper truths about God, about us. Use these stories to set the table; then invite the world to dinner.
Each parable features multiple versions of the same story allowing you to tailor each viewing to your audience.
