The journey into the Church cannot be traveled alone. It makes no sense -- indeed, it would be a contradiction -- for someone to become part of the church without the help of someone in the community. Although the entire community stands ready to welcome a new member, there is a real need for personal guides. We refer to these companions as sponsors.
