When Jesus came to visit his good friends Mary, Martha, and Lazarus in Bethany, Mary recognized Jesus as the Messiah. She responded to his love by anointing Jesus' feet with oil. Through this Bible story children will learn about customs among the Jewish people of Jesus' day such as footwashing, anointing, and preparation for burial. As children hear Mary's story, they too will come to recognize Jesus as the Messiah. They will consider ways that they can worship God and ways they can honor Jesus by caring for others.
