This two-session unit in the Connect series for junior high classes helps you address theological and faith questions about both the humanity and the divinity of the earthly Jesus and his relationship with God the Father. Youth will recognize that the church affirms Jesus as truly God and truly human.
Session 1: If Jesus was God, was he really tempted? After looking at the story of Jesus' temptation as recorded in Luke, the lesson will connect with each student's life by helping them realize that they too can overcome temptation because of their relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Session 2: If Jesus was God, did he really die? Youth will look at the story of the Crucifixion in Mark and this will connect with their lives as they engage the biblical record to draw their own conclusions about Jesus' death affirm those beliefs.
Scriptures referenced in this unit are:
Luke 4: 1-13 the temptations Jesus faced
Mark 15: 16-47 the Crucifixion of Christ.
