This peaceful arrangement of the traditional American folk tune features a flowing eighth note accompaniment evoking the “rolling river,” and subtle harmonic nuances which reinforce the tune’s sense of longing. Jason Krug’s setting builds throughout and rises to a satisfying peak of might and majesty with a key change near the end. Care should be taken to ensure that the melody is never swallowed by the river of the accompaniment.
