Listen...to the words of the Scripture, and in them discover God's message for you today.
Look...at a brief verbal snapshot from the scrapbook of contemporary life and discover its connection both to you and to the Scripture passage.
Live...inside the Scripture to discover its context and message; then allow the Scripture to come alive in you and cause you to live out your faith in new and more-effective ways.

Everything is related. We live within systems and connections and communities and families and a host of other relationships. No one acts alone. What we do truly does affect others, either for good or ill. In 1984, a friend of mine who lives in Nashville asked me if I would be willing to serve as a member of the Curriculum Resources Committee of The United Methodist Church. I agreed. Later, an editor of The United Methodist Publishing House asked if I would like to try my hand at writing some curriculum for youth. I said yes. Later I began to write curriculum for adults. Now, twenty years later, I am writing this lesson for you and your class. (You may wish to thank or to criticize my friend for the invitation he issued back in 1984!)
The point is that our choices in life have a profound impact on us and on others. As people of the Christian faith, it is important for us to consider how we employ wisdom within our relationships and as we make choices, knowing that our decisions will affect us and the people around us every day.
