Listen...to the words of the Scripture, and in them discover God's message for you today.
Look...at a brief verbal snapshot from the scrapbook of contemporary life and discover its connection both to you and to the Scripture passage.
Live...inside the Scripture to discover its context and message; then allow the Scripture to come alive in you and cause you to live out your faith in new and more-effective ways.

I have always enjoyed April Fools Day for silly jokes and pranks. Unfortunately, in the wrong hands the day can become an opportunity for cruelty and humiliation. The word mean means the withholding of love that otherwise should be given. When meanness exists instead of love, there is always pain and sorrow and even agony.
Beyond the intentional cruelty that people sometimes inflict on each other, sometimes the world itself can be a hurtful place. Winds become hurricanes and tornadoes, snows become blizzards, and tremors become earthquakes. We know how fragile our lives are and that we stand at the mercy of so much in our world. If we focus too much thought and reflection on things we cannot control, we may begin to see the world as a scary and hostile place in which to live.
As humans, and especially as people of faith, we must struggle with the issues the Book of Job raises. What can we expect in return for our faithfulness? Why do terrible things happen to innocent people? Indeed, how do we wrestle with the fact of suffering and tragedy in this world and in our lives as people of God?
