The much-praised documentary Waiting for “Superman” follows several students through the Washington D.C. school system and looks at the obstacles they face as they strive to get a quality education. The title refers to the students’ longing for someone or something to come along and make everything better. The Advent season is all about a similar longing. A weary world longs for Christ to come and rescue it from sin and brokenness. LinC talks about Waiting for “Superman” and how we experience the liberating power of Jesus the Messiah. Key Scriptures: Exodus 14:5-14; Isaiah 61:1-4; Revelation 21:1-4; 22:1-5. Among this season's many highly anticipated movies is Tron Legacy, sequel to the 1982 cult classic Tron. The first film followed computer programmer Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) into "The Grid." This year's follow-up tells the story of his son, Sam Flynn, who must navigate the digital world to uncover the truth about his father's legacy. As Christians we need to uncover and celebrate the legacy of our forebears in faith. Next week LinC reminds us to be mindful of the legacy that we leave for the generations of believers who will follow.
