For the past year, allegations that President Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States have circulated on the Internet and on talk radio. Even though officials have repeatedly confirmed records and documents, the allegations have persisted. President Obama is not the first public figure to be a victim of false rumors and allegations. But regardless of how one feels about the President’s—or any public figure’s—policies or performance, Christians have a responsibility to uphold the truth. LinC looks at ways we can bear faithful witness and have fruitful debates about the issues facing our country and world. Key Scriptures: Genesis 39; Deuteronomy 5:20; Ephesians 4:14-16; Colossians 3:8-11. This summer has seen an disturbingly large number of plane crashes and near misses. While many people already have a fear of flying, recent events likely will make even more people hesistant to travel on airplanes. All people have fears; and while some of these fears are justified, we should not allow them to keep us from living the abundant life that God desires for us. Next week LinC reminds us that, as Christians, we can manage our fears by putting our faith and trust in God.
