Perhaps the most anticipated summer blockbuster was the third installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. Batman’s story is about justice and righteousness. His commitment to ending injustice is never in doubt, but he often struggles with the question of what is right. LinC looks at our response to injustice and how we can right the wrongs we encounter. We’ll focus on how we train ourselves in righteousness, so that we will be strong enough to handle the challenges we will inevitably face. Key Scriptures: Psalm 146; 2 Corinthians 12:1-10; 1 Timothy 4:7b-10. Nothing says summer in the church like vacation Bible school (VBS). For more than a century, churches have offered children’s educational programming in the summer. And, at many churches, this programming wouldn’t be possible without the help of youth volunteers. VBS is one of many ways in which the church educates its members. (LinC is another.) But Christian education is never just about teaching. It’s also about spiritual formation. Next week we’ll talk about the importance of having opportunities to learn, to ask questions, and to grow in faith with the support of our Christian classmates.
