Civil unrest erupted in Iran following a disputed presidential election in which incumbant Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won by a surprising margin amid allegations of fraud. Millions of protestors in Iran and around the world have taken to the streets and to the Internet to contest the results and demand justice. Justice is a topic that comes up often in Scripture and was very important to Jesus. Next week we'll look at how and why Christians should strive for justice in Christ's name. Key Scriptures: Amos 5:21-24; Proverbs 31:1-9; Matthew 5:1-16; Galatians 6:2. Pixar's Up, one of summer’s most critically acclaimed films, tells the story of an elderly man named Carl who (with the help of tens of thousands of helium balloons) finally realizes his lifelong dream of journeying to the exotic Paradise Falls in South America. A variety of circumstances kept Carl from embarking on this adventure earlier in life. As Christians we all are on a spiritual journey. But, as was the case for Carl in Up, circumstances arise that distract us. Next week we'll look at ways we can embark on our spiritual journeys with faith and excitement and with the Holy Spirit as our guide.
