Gerald and Helen Goode, title characters of ABC’s new animated comedy The Goode Family, do everything in their power to make the world a better place. But the Goodes’ efforts to do good always backfire (often in comical fashion). As Christians, we know that salvation comes through God’s grace, not through our goodness. But we also know that God created us for good works (Ephesians 2:10) and that without good works our faith is “dead” (James 2:17). LinC looks at what it means for Christians to be good. Key Scriptures: Psalm 119:97-112; Galatians 5:13-26; James 2:14-26. The Transformers franchise returns to theaters this summer with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Once again Optimus Prime and the heroic Autobots must protect humanity from the villainous Decepticons. And once again, Sam Witwicky, the movie's human protagonist, finds himself in the middle of an intergalactic feud. While few of us are called to participate in battles between giant robots, like Sam, we all find ourselves in situations not of our choosing where we are expected to act. Next week LinC looks at how we can respond to these situations faithfully and how we can, with God's help, prepare ourselves for the unexpected.
