The new movie Alice in Wonderland is Disney and director Tim Burton’s take on the Lewis Carroll classics Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. In the movie a nineteen-year-old Alice returns to Wonderland and must help redeem a world that is not her own. Christians should be able to relate to Alice. Though we are citizens of God’s kingdom, we live in a broken world. And, as ambassadors of God’s kingdom, we have a responsibility to be bearers of God’s love and grace to a world that God created and is redeeming. Key Scriptures: Daniel 1:1-21; John 17:1-26; Acts 17:16-32. Hundreds of thousands of people have joined Facebook and Twitter campaigns in hopes of seeing 88-year-old comedienne Betty White host and tween pop star Justin Bieber perform on Saturday Night Live. Their efforts appear to have been successful. (SNL has booked Bieber and reportedly is close to working out a deal with White.) Getting a celebrity to appear on a late-night comedy show hardly qualifies as changing the world, but these recent social-networking efforts illustrate what is possible when people raise their voices and rally around a cause. Next week we'll look at how we can lift our voices as agents of godly change.
