The "Option for the poor" characterizes fundamentally the social educational mission of catholic schools through the process of subjecthood of the poor, participation and the pursuit of theological values. The fulfillment of this process in Benin, from a postcolonial perspective, would be possible through a cultural liberation, the desinteriorisation
of the poverty: empowerment to overcome poverty-related inner mechanisms, acquisition of self-confidence and self-responsability.
