Monster Mania

The Love Story of Dreams
  • By Alister MacKinnon

The story is set on the mid-1940s on a Hebridean island off Scotland. Two words describe this book--love and dreams.

Two young children find themselves in a dilemma, living with their binge-drinking parents and the possibility of being taken into care. After reading about the happy-go-lucky children in an orphanage of dreams far away, they decided to leave home to seek it out. On their journey, the children find themselves in a palace under Loch Ness--after they released a trapped and chained monster at the loch side. To repay their kindness, the monster decides take them to the orphanage of dreams in Odessa. It is a dangerous journey and would have many pitfalls. The monster hoped to meet up with an old friend--a very old dinosaur. In the hope to produce a golden egg to continue the Dinosaur race. The journey inspires great friendship and the greatest of sacrifices. The love between two children and a monster come-dinosaur, two species with vast differences, shows the world that love has no bounds.

Through this moving story, the author weaves many Christian beliefs, not only for children but also for adults. This book shows the sadness on the inside of an alcoholic's painful home. Follow the joy when alcohol is removed from the family table and replaced with the Word of God.
