The Emergency Board Meeting

The voices were indistinguishable behind the two massive, ornately carved wooden doors. People were greeting one another and talking loudly in order to be heard. One voice boomed, and the room went quiet. After a while, the noise seemed to pick up again behind the closed doors.

It was 9:15 a.m. Barry Smith, boardroom coach and consultant, had been asked by the assistant to the Chairman of the Board to meet the board members at 9:00 a.m. As usual, boards are never on time.
