The Ryan Report on abuse of children in Irish state institutions that were run by religious orders caused outrage and confusion. Redemptorist Tony Flannery undertook the task of responding in as positive and constructive a way as possible, and has brought together a very competent and thoughtful team to write about the report, the media treatments of it, its implications for the care of children now and in the future, and its implications for the future of the church in Ireland.
