Translated into Kiswahili, the Reports and Proposed Legislation Volume 2, Section 3 contains a historical review of Methodist involvement and influence in the Sand Creek Massacre of 1864. The report was commissioned by the 2012 General Conference of the United Methodist Church, overseen by a Joint Advisory Committee of Cheyenne and Arapaho descendants and United Methodist Leaders, and prepared by Dr. Gary L. Roberts, respected historian of the Sand Creek Massacre. The report presents a thorough investigation of the roles played in the Sand Creek Massacre by John Chivington, John Evans, the Methodist Church as an institution, and other prominent religious leaders at the time.
The Daily Christian Advocate (DCA) is published for delegates to the General Conference of The United Methodist Church. The Advance Edition, which is produced and shipped to delegates well before the conference convenes, contains three volumes.
- Volume One is the handbook for delegates.
- Volume Two contains reports from the general agencies and study commissions along with legislative proposals from agencies, annual conferences, United Methodist groups, local churches, and individuals. The material is organized according to the legislative committee to which it is assigned.
- Volume Three contains quadrennial financial reports compiled by the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA). It is not mailed in advance, but distributed to delegates on the first day of General Conference.
All issues of the DCA are issued by authority of the Commission on General Conference.
