The purpose of this book is to demonstrate the transcendent and defiant power of jubilee freedom, a freedom that beats the odds against repairing broken relationships and advancing the cause of justice. It will provoke greater consciousness of progress made toward dismantling racism and overcoming hostilities. The book gives witness to the fact that many have traveled and are traveling down a transformative path of strengthening bonds between race, ethnicity, gender, culture, and social location. Moreover, tens of thousands, millions, even multimillions of others, will join the crusade and follow suit. There is no doubt the readers will be inspired by narratives of forgiveness and reconciliation!
The scope of the book includes personal testimonies of transformed persons who accepted the invitation to live out the principles of jubilee and honored the call to spiritual awakenings. It offers a challenge to examine how individuals and corporate lifestyles have broken our relationship with God, with each other, and even with ourselves. It calls us into a renewed life in which we can join the apostle Paul in proclaiming, "In Christ's family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal" (Gal. 3:28, MSG).
The whole premise of this book is based upon my belief that God has and continues to employ a strategy to change the world through reconciliation, forgiveness, and jubilee freedom!
