Dear Mother

  • By Krista Capozzoli
Product Description
I know that I will not speak to my mother until I see her in Heaven, but I have chosen to express my thoughts by writing a fictional letter to her. By doing so, I was able to adequately and thoroughly share in detail the experiences of coping with her illness, death, funeral, and facing life without her. It is so true when you hear someone say "One of the most difficult things to deal with in life is the death of a loved one." But it can be just as traumatic to cope when a family member is diagnosed with a terminal illness. I not only had to walk through the valley of death, but I had to walk through the valley of illness before my mother passed away. Once she was diagnosed with cancer, I had to watch her health deteriorate until the cancer spread to other areas. I had to hear her doctor tell me that she had only a few months to live. I had to watch my mother suffer with cancer as she battled for her life. Then I went from dealing with her cancer to facing her death. When my mother passed away, I had to adjust to a new path that was quite different than the path I had envisioned for my life. I never thought that she would die and leave me so soon. I never expected tragedy to strike and for my life to take such a drastic turn. No sympathy card could change the reality of what I encountered. But Praise God, He has guided and comforted me throughout my journey. My tragedy has turned to triumph-and my loss is now a victory. When an artist paints a picture, you cannot see how beautiful the painting will be until after it is finished. Likewise, a sculptor fashions a statue and uses many tools to fashion it until it becomes a beautiful work of art. In a similar way, we cannot really see how God will use a situation for His purpose and glory. He permitted me to experience the trial of losing my mother. Even though I had to walk through many valleys, God's way is perfect. God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect (2 Samuel 22:33)
