This is a book on spiritual warfare. The enemy had just finished licking the wounds he received when Jesus stomped him on the head, and he quickly set back to work against a suddenly different and rapidly growing threat: disciples armed with spiritual weaponry they were quickly beginning to understand and gain proficiency in using. We fight against the same invisible enemy that has already been defeated by our Commander in Chief, Jesus Christ. In the case of this enemy entity, he has such an ego that he still wants to have what he can steal; if he can't have it, he aims to kill or destroy it. That's all. He's been beaten already, but since we live in a delayed action universe in contrast to how things go in the face-to-face kingdom of God, we still must resist the devil and make him flee from us. That's why there is spiritual warfare. We have to fight, because, although the game result is in and we have won because our Commander has secured the victory for all time, there is still "mopping up" necessary to keep the enemy from wreaking any more havoc on the world and its inhabitants.
