Born G. Boctor to an evangelical pastor, the late Rev. Guirguis Habeel, she grew up actively involved in the church. She wrote monthly articles in the San Francisco Christian magazine "Al Manara." She presented several workshops to students and teachers, including her co-presentation at the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) in Washington D.C in 2001. She was also the speaker on the Book of Revelation to women from the Middle East, at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California.
