This is an excellent and irenic book on a controversial subject. I think Prof. Cohen has the right take on this topic, and I think college students (and others) who are considering these questions would do well to read it. - Dr . Robert C. Newman, Professor of New Testament, Biblical Theological Seminary; Director, Interdisciplinary Biblical Research Institute. www.obri.org Dr. Cohen has written a very unusual book. It treats a controversial subject among Bible-believing Christians~the age of the universe and of the earth. Through his Jewish upbringing he learned the Hebrew language and studied the Hebrew Bible from his youth. After coming to Christ he continued his biblical and theological training, studying under leading scholars from both sides of this debate, and learning thoroughly their arguments. Dr. Cohen has concluded that the scientific evidence for an old earth is totally compatible with the Scripture's teaching. Dr. Cohen holds to the classical, high view of biblical inspiration and inerrancy, and to the value of science as an aid to biblical interpretation. This book is the result of his own study and development. It is unusual in that it concentrates not so much on the arguments themselves, but upon the mental and even emotional processes involved by all those who honestly study this issue. The book is charitable and gracious, recognizing the sincerity and conviction of all believers who seek to rightly understand God's Word. I recommend this book to all who are interested in thinking properly and biblically. --John A. Battle, Th.D.
