I'm Physically Handicapped

  • By Gary Lariviere
$16.49
Product Description
I was born handicapped in 1955 when doctors had misconceptions about what Cerebral Palsy was. These misconceptions led to almost an unanimous verdict by "knowledgeable" doctors that I was useless and to be kept away from society. I'm intentionally stressing the idea of misconceptions; not just about Cerebral Palsy but about others that many view as being "low life". Sadly many who are born again misrepresent the inner proof of Christ's life (in which the Bible calls the fruit of the Holy Spirit). Some are blind Bible thumpers rather than being controlled by the Holy Spirit. I strongly feel though this misconception and wrong representation of Jesus only takes up a small portion of my book, it is vital to me to communicate my heart to yours. This idea contains the ugly reality of why many are tuned off from being born again. Getting back to my unpredictable life, it strangely has allowed me to identify with your unpredictable life. Though I never went to a mental institution, my parents sought for the best places available for my physical and educational development. Though I did not go to Massachusetts Hospital School until I was nearly 12, I was put on a waiting list to go there when I was about 3. Yes, though we make plans (in this case my parents did), God chooses the outcome. Massachusetts Hospital School not only gave me the opportunity to graduate from high school, it played a part in molding me as a person. Also, it was where my desire to write began. After this, my life really accelerated in an unpredictable rollercoaster ride! I had to leave the best place which profoundly affected my young life to commute to college while living in a nursing home. Five years later I met my future wife, what I left out in this book was the fierce opposition the nursing home attacked Audrey with. They argued that I could not make it in society; in their professional opinion it was hopeless for me to just survive, let alone have an impact on the outside world! This is only the start of a very long journey with Jesus; although there were times that I turned my back on him please read this to see how Jesus never gave up on me! Please do not underestimate how God can use you, it is beyond amazing how he chose to use what many called a hopeless case.
