This book introduces the social and cultural context of Paul's ministry by means of a narrative that follows a fictitious character, Nicanor, through an eventful week in Corinth. The adventures of Nicanor in his business dealings, his relationships and his growing dilemma allow us to meet people in various strata of Corinthian society and come to understand something of life in a Roman city. Most importantly, we meet Paul and experience the life and worship of the Christian community. Numerous full-page text boxes expand on a variety of aspects of life and culture as we encounter them in the narrative.
