Entheogenic Healing describes contemporary psychedelic therapies of indigenous cultures, mestizo adaptations, and emerging global traditions. Analysis of cultural contexts and ritual practices of diverse entheogenic traditions provides an understanding of their individual and common dynamics. A common framework situates the practices in cultural context, describes training of healers, examines preparatory and ritual activities, and analyzes the dynamics of healing. The chapters examine the roles entheogens play in healing, focused on the alterations of consciousness and spirit experiences produced, the forms of illness treated, the nature of the healing processes, and post-session integration practices.
