This study analyses the meaning and function of the topic of law within the Hebrew Book of Esther, which, as is well known, does not mention God. It traces how the true God-king YHWH and his Torah take on contours in the mirror of earthly-royal twisting of law and order and offers an interpretation of this writing as a contribution to the Torah discourse of the pre-Maccabean Hellenistic period.
