Book Two in the Rita Patel Mystery Series
A man is found dead on the lake at Abbey Park in Leicester. He is an actor who was staying at a bed and breakfast where Rita Patel and her friend Priya Shah are working during the summer of 2013.
Rita, who is about to enter her last year at school, and is planning her university applications and personal statement, thinks the circumstances of the death are suspicious and she is eventually proved right.
Rita's investigations, with the help of her family and friends, take place in a context of cultural and social change and Rita finds out about the struggles in the 1980s of coal miners and their families to maintain their livelihoods and communities. Rita also explores her historical interest in the death of Cardinal Wolsey at the Abbey, and the later abolition of the monasteries.
