The Shift 2.0 Activation Guide is designed specifically to support pastors and church leadership teams as they consider the shifts recom- mended and how they might be accomplished in their setting. You will find the 5 shifts broken down into sections framed around Guiding Prin- ciples. These Guiding Principles are the big picture things that connect the best practices to the goal of effective ministry.
Throughout the Activation Guide, after each Guiding Principle, you will find a template for developing SMART goals and action plans. It is my recommendation that for each shift your team develops two goals/ action plans.
The first goal is focused on what can be done to improve the effectiveness of this theme (e.g. Hospitality, Worship, Discipleship etc.) within the local church.
Each section also includes a survey tool and a variety of brief assessments and reflections to assist the leadership team in evaluating the effectiveness of particular dimensions of ministry and what might be helpful to move the congregation forward. These are labelled as Team Activities, and you will benefit greatly if you complete them. They can also be used as reflective exercises for individuals if you are not in a group setting.
