Experts in the profession present innovative strategies and recommendations for best practices in drug education, intervention strategies, multicultural considerations, and counselor education. Trevor J. Buser is an associate professor at Naropa University, where he teaches coursework in the Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling program. His research centers on cognitive predictors of nonsuicidal self-injury. He also brings a dedicated focus on addictions counseling and is the former editor of the Journal of Addictions and Offender Counseling. Buser is a licensed professional counselor, certified school counselor, and approved clinical supervisor. He also served as president of IAAOC. Pamela S. Lassiter is a professor of counseling in the Department of Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has over thirty years of work experience in substance-abuse treatment and community mental health. Lassiter holds credentials as a licensed professional counselor, a licensed marriage and family therapist, and a licensed clinical addiction specialist. She serves as director of the Addictions Program at UNC Charlotte and teaches graduate courses in addiction and mental health counseling. She is also a former president of IAAOC and is the current editor of the Journal of Addictions and Offender Counseling. Kathleen Brown-Rice is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Counselor Education at Sam Houston State University. Her clinical work is focused on clients with trauma and comorbid substance use and mental health concerns. She holds credentials as a licensed professional counselor, a licensed clinical addiction specialist, a national certified counselor, and an approved clinical supervisor. She is currently the associate editor of the Journal of Addictions and Offender Counseling.
