Meet God and respond.
Worship goes deeper than hymns and recitations. Prayer is more than us talking to God. This adult group study serves as a critical reminder that prayer and worship and stewardship can be more than opportunities to connect with God; they can be encounters with God. Through DVD segments, Scripture, helpful quotations, and space for journaling you’ll take a close look at the six, basic characteristics of God and the corresponding characteristics we should develop in response. You’ll discover how your connection with God can become an encounter with God—and that’s when your life will really change.
This six-session study is designed for small group use with the Participant Book and Leader Guide. Each weekly session can be streamed or you can purchase the DVD that includes all six video sessions. The goal of this week’s session titled "God’s Righteousness and My Work for Justice" is to show that God’s righteousness leads us to work for justice. The video is much like watching the news most nights—poverty, abuse, oppression, and inhumane conditions are preva¬lent in our world. While we see these images with our own eyes and in our minds know that they exist, we are often blind to it all. We worship God, we talk about our own transformation, and we talk of our hope of eternal life, but we never see the world any differently. We never see the world as Jesus saw the world. We don’t realize that as God’s holy and righteous peo¬ple, we are God’s helpers and are called to reach out to the needy world we live in and do our part to work for the justice that is God’s will. This is session five of a six part series.
