If you stop and think about it, shopping is a search for information about a product that ends with a decision to purchase the product. Customers often have numerous questions, and until those questions are answered, there is no sale. Have you ever passed up a purchase because you couldn't get an answer? Cokesbury.com strives to answer each question you may have.
If you have a good idea of what you are looking for, such as a title, author, or an item number, this is the quickest way to shop. You'll find the "Search" options just below the taskbar of each page. Cokesbury.com utilizes the Google Search Appliance as our search engine. The GSA indexes not only our product database but also any related informational pages available about a product, service, or store location. When you search on a word or phrase using the All/Keyword option, you will see two types of search results returned. First, we display any related products that matched your search inquiry, 2nd are the related information pages associated with your query. Search results also include the links to the product section location on Cokesbury.com that contains items that matched your search.
The SEARCH section allows you to search for products using the following criteria: All/Keywords, Title, Author, or ISBN/Item Number
When searching, try short phrases or single words first! Computers are very literal! They look for EXACTLY what is typed in, including spaces, commas, etc. You'll have a better chance of finding what you are looking for by entering fewer words rather than trying to be precise and entering too many words. The SEARCH can also search by ISBN (10-digit book number), Title, Author name, and 6- or 10-digit Cokesbury catalog number.
If you would rather look through the store by subject matter and topics, much like a "real" store, then browsing is for you rather than the more specific search methods above. We have hundreds of subject categories, so you can probably find the topic that you seek.
You can browse departments by clicking on the department tab and then a sub-category tab. Take the Bookstore for example. Click on the Bookstore tab. Just below the main tab, and in the same color bar, you will see subcategories. Click on the sub-category of Books. You will see numerous themes listed. Clicking on one of these themes will offer you additional choices to further narrow your search. As you “drill-down” into the categories, additional information may be displayed in the blue bar on the left. If there are denomination-specific products in the Department you are browsing, you can find those by clicking on the denomination name listed in the blue bar.
You may also browse the entire store using the convenient site map also located in the blue side-bar on the left. By using the site map you will be able to see the Departments and their subcategories all at once. Clicking on a listing will take you to that page of the webstore.
Sound complicated? Would you rather we recommend titles to you? We can do that! Each month we feature the best selections available for each product grouping. Check the “Top Picks” and “Seasonal Selections” categories under the Home tab to find recommended products and titles. In Top Picks you will find newly released or soon to be released titles that our professional staff recommends as well as timeless favorites. Seasonal Selections offers recommendations of products and titles for the current season/holiday. All recommendations are decided by product merit and we do not accept any compensation/influence from publishers or manufacturers to include their products on the Recommended lists.
