In the December 18 issue, LinC reminds us it’s the fourth Sunday of Advent, a day to celebrate the liberating power of Christ’s arrival. We know that Christ came to proclaim “good news to the poor,” “release to the captives,” “recovery of sight to the blind,” and to “let the oppressed go free.” While Jesus ministered to people who were materially poor, physically blind, and politically oppressed, each one of us is also poor, enslaved, blind, or oppressed in some way—and each of us needs to be freed by Christ. Key Scriptures: Isaiah 9:6-7; 61:1-2; Luke 4:14-21; 19:1-11; John 9:39-41. In the December 25 issue on Christmas Day, LinC will look at how Christmas brings out the child in all of us and how we can experience the wonder of Christ’s birth as children of God. If possible, make worship and Sunday school a part of your family’s Christmas celebration.
