In the October 2 issue, LinC explores another dimension of Hurricane Katrina. Thousands of pets were displaced or lost following the storm. Some groups have gone to great lengths to save these animals, and the news has reported inspiring stories of dogs and cats being rescued and reunited with their human owners. On the other hand, some have asked the question: Are efforts to save animals getting in the way of meeting people’s needs? Key Scriptures: Genesis 1:26-28; 33:12-17; Deuteronomy 22:1-4; Proverbs 12:10; Luke 14:1-6; 2 Timothy 4:18. In the October 9 issue, LinC takes a look at Tim Burton’s new movie Corpse Bride. It may seem creepy on the surface, but the film is about more than just marrying dead people. It raises questions about issues that all young people struggle with: authority, independence, and freedom. We all like to make our own decisions, but submitting to Christ’s authority truly frees us to live the good life.
