Shortly after presidential candidate John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate, news broke that Palin's teenage daughter, Bristol, was pregnant. Most pundits either criticized Palin's parenting or praised the Palins for Bristol's decision not to have an abortion. Few expressed genuine concern for the young woman and the challenges she'll face as a teen mother. Sometimes the candidates use these distractions to their advantage; other times they beg the media to focus on what's important. Next week LinC looks at how we as Christians can shut out distractions and focus on what's truly important: our personal relationship with Christ.
