The Grand Design, the much-anticipated new book from renowned physicist and popular author Stephen Hawking, claims that the universe can create itself from nothing and that God is not necessary. The claim has generated headlines and given new life to an old debate about the origins of the cosmos. But we shouldn't conclude that faith and science can't play nice with each other. LinC looks at how we, as Christians, can affirm God as Creator and use science as a way to better understand and appreciate the magnitude of God's creation. Teen depression, which is the subject of the forthcoming movie It's a Funny Kind of Story, affects millions of young people in the United States. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that 20 percent of all people will experience depression before they become adults.
