This summer has seen an disturbingly large number of plane crashes and near misses. While many people already have a fear of flying, recent events likely will make even more people hesistant to travel on airplanes. All people have fears; and while some of these fears are justified, we should not allow them to keep us from living the abundant life that God desires for us. LinC reminds us that, as Christians, we can manage our fears by putting our faith and trust in God. Key Scriptures: Genesis 45:4-15; Psalm 22-23; 25; 121; 131; Acts 27:13-44; 1 Corinthians 10:13. The debate over health care reform legislation is a hot topic (to say the least). Instead of jumping into the fray, next week LinC uses this talk about health care as an opportunity to explore our call as Christians to bring healing to the world. Healing was an important part of Jesus' earthly ministry, and Jesus didn't just heal ailments whose treatments would be covered by an employer-provided HMO or a government-provided public option. He also treated people who experienced fear, guilt, doubt, greed, and grief (and he didn't even require a co-pay). How can we follow Christ's example and bring healing to a hurting world?
