The 2012 Summer Olympics in London are nearly here. If the “Games of the XXX Olympiad” are anything like previous Olympics, we’re likely to see lots of inspiring performances from the world’s best athletes and hear lots of inspiring stories about athletes who have overcome all manner of challenges to represent their countries in the games. Inspiration is something we talk about often in the church. But what, exactly, is inspiration? And where does it come from? LinC seeks answers to these questions, considers ways we can open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, and looks at how God uses us to inspire others. Key Scriptures: Exodus 35:30-35; Acts 2:14-39; James 1:1-4. While this summer has already seen plenty of blockbusters, perhaps the most anticipated is the third installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. Batman’s story is about justice and righteousness. His commitment to ending injustice is never in doubt, but he often struggles with the question of what is right. Next week we’ll look at our response to injustice and how we can right the wrongs we encounter. We’ll focus on how we train ourselves in righteousness, so that we will be strong enough to handle the challenges we will inevitably face.
