In the June 19 issue, LinC takes a look at “Juneteenth,” a day set aside to celebrate the freeing of slaves in Texas following the Civil War. In addition to recognizing a cultural holiday that is unfamiliar to many Americans, we will use the occasion to explore our freedom in Christ. Key Scriptures are: Genesis 3:1-6; Deuteronomy 8:1-10; Galatians 5:13-15; Philippians 4:6-7; and Philemon 8-21. In the June 26 issue, LinC explores how we as a culture are fascinated by the “story behind the story.” Millions will go to theaters this summer to see Batman and Star Wars “prequels.” Others will watch cable programs that tell the personal stories of celebrities and world leaders. As Christians, we also have a fascinating “story” to tell—and we better make sure we know it.
