On June 10, LinC takes a look at The Year of the Dog, a movie that features a woman whose passion for animal rights goes awry and damages her personal relationships and mental health. Most everyone has enthusiasm for something. Passions can be constructive or destructive, depending on what we are zealous about and how we act on it. LinC explores ways we can use our passions to glorify God. Key Scriptures: Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 16:13 to 17:5; Matthew 13:3-9, 18-23; Colossians 3:17. On June 17, LinC reminds us of one of fiction's best-known crime-stoppers, Nancy Drew. The new movie takes the classic teenage detective and puts her in current-day Los Angeles, where she feels hopelessly out of place. Faced with rejection and pressure to conform, Nancy stays true to herself. As Christians, we inevitably end up in situations where we just don't fit in. While finding ways to conform to our peers is tempting, it's important to know that sometimes God wants us to be different.
