Clemente offers an instruction manual for believers, where he presents Christ as the Guide and Teacher of humanity, the Physician of the soul, who introduces the believer into the moral and practical issues of the Christian life.
Clemente was able to accept the challenge posed by pagan intellectuals against the incipient Christian faith and, without departing from the central doctrines of the Gospel, he was able to answer them in his own language. Thus he uses the best of Greek culture in which he was an expert, to show that the truth that philosophers wish to attain is found in the teachings of Christ. A prolific writer, unfortunately, only a small part of his works have been preserved, the best known being his Exhortations to the Gentiles, The Pedagogue and Stromat is or Tapices.
