On September 1, 1939, the mighty armies of the Third Reich invaded Poland, opening the fi rst phase of World War II. After an interval of only twenty-one years since World War I, Europe was again plunged into war, which soon developed in to a world-wide conflict, producing terrible conflagrations, privations and devastations. Hitler had begun to build his thousand-year reign. In 1940, Russia occupied the Republic of Estonia. In 1941, Mr. Olema was drafted into the Red Army to fight against the German armies. He refused to serve the Red Army and fled into the forest to hide himself from the Russians. For this reason, he was condemned to die. He hid for two months in the woods in his native country of Estonia. In 1944, one dark night, he was able to flee in a small fishing boat to Scandinavia. In 1952, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean and the same year experienced conversion in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Olema has studied in seven theological institutions and has received several degrees, including his B.A., B.S., M.Th., and D.D. In 1958, he was ordained by the P.A.O.C. to the full-time ministry
