...each of my names represent a part of my character. They represent who I am. So when I say that my name is Jealous I am really referring to my character. I do not like what I have created for myself to not give me my rightful place. I am Jealous. God has many names-Creator, Counselor, Judge, Redeemer, and so on. But what about Jealous? This is not a name that is often referenced in church; however, God is jealous. As author Sheldon D. Newton discusses in his book, My Name Is Jealous: A Devotional on a Forgotten Name of God, God is jealous for your time, your affections, your honor, your fellowship, and your friendship. As the Creator of the universe, God deserves to be preeminent in our lives. He vigorously pursues us with his love and forgiveness. Why should we not return his pursuit and make him a priority? Newton uniquely writes his book from God's perspective, giving it a personal, loving tone and feeling. In addition to this accessible first-person format, Newton has broken up the book into small, manageable chapters.
