Beulah and Otis met at Capleville Baptist Church in 1947, and married on December 9, 1949. Otis had been called of God to be a missionary when he was fourteen years old, and since Beulah wanted to serve the Lord with Otis, they eloped and married when they were both only seventeen and still in high school. This seemed like a foolish mistake to some and, admittedly, was not the way Christians should behave, but God chose to use them, in spite of themselves. In her down-to-earth way, Beulah recounts how God took two young people, both raised in very humble homes, and allowed them to become ambassadors for the King of kings. For fifteen years they served in Mexico City, the largest city in the world, with more than 25 million people. Since retiring in 2006, Beulah resides in Memphis, Tennessee and teaches a ladies' Sunday school class in the Hispanic ministry of Central Baptist Church. She also serves as language consultant on the staff of Editorial Bautista Independiente, the Spanish Literature Division of Baptist Mid-Missions.
