This work is an adaptation from The Way of the Cross found in the Book of Occasional Services, intended to be a more child-friendly version of the Stations of the Cross, with questions to consider and activities to do along the way. It could be set up in your sanctuary, in another part of your building, or traveling from one room to another, to truly make it a journey. Along the way, There are questions for participants to consider. A booklet for participants to take home is also included. The Way of the Cross could be offered as an event at the beginning of Lent, sometime during the weeks of Lent, or at the beginning of Holy Week. In order for more people to participate, it could be offered more than once. The Reader offers a meditation, reading, or description at each station. The role can be shared by many individuals or one person, including old children who are good readers. The Guide instructs everyone regarding the activities along the way which are experiential and sensory, using objects for hands-on reflection. At certain times, children (or others) will be chosen to participate (for example, to carry the cross).
