God our Parent loves us -- no matter what. As parents, we, too, love our children -- no matter what. When our adult child makes lifestyle choices we cannot affirm, that love is tested. Understanding, acceptance, communication may all become difficult as we enter into yet another phase of parenting -- one as important and challenging as any that preceded it. Parenting an adult child can confront us with our unfulfilled dreams, with feelings of disillusionment and fear and even failure. How do we respond? Where is our hope?
Theresa Cotter presents us with the hard-gained wisdom, insight and consolation of many parents and others in the helping professions who understand the experiences of having a child choose a different path. She reminds us gently that all parenting happens under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
